ASC U10 Team changes and Parent Meeting followup

Team:

Just want to clarify the changes for the ASC U10 teams.

ASC BU10 Blue (Boys) - This team will be the boys team moving forward.  All u10 boys should plan on coming to the Blue team games starting this weekend.  Please see Laura's email or the schedule from the ASC u10 homepage ( http://asc-u10.blogspot.com/ ).

ASC GU10 Red (Girls) - This team will be the girls team moving forward.  All u10 girls should plan on coming to the Red team games starting this weekend.

*** ASC GU10 Red team manager needed  ***
Because of the changes we have lost our team manager for the Red team.  Please send me an email if you are interested in stepping up.  The job is not very difficult, but it make a huge difference.

Thanks to all the parents for coming to the meeting and suffering through the bug bites and my speech.  Hopefully the bugs were worse than my speech :)  If you have any questions about what was discussed please let me know.

If you missed the meeting drop me a message and I can forward my notes which should cover everything we discussed.

Thanks again and see everyone on Friday.

PS If your player is talking about having to do "challenges" and you are confused, here is the deal.  We have set simple skills challenges for the players and asked them to practice 5-15 minutes a day everyday on them.  I have told them that if they do this they will master these skills by the end of the season.  Please encourage you player to do a little something everyday, it will make a big difference I promise.  IF you have questions or concerns please let me know.

Challenge #1 -  Thigh juggling.  Drop and bounce the ball off the thigh and catch. 1 thigh and catch, then 2 thighs and catch, 3 thighs and catch, etc.  How many can you get?

Challenge #2 - Instep juggling. Drop ball from extended arms and strike with pointed foot on instep (laces).  Catch.  Repeat. How many can you do before missing?

Challenge #3 - Heading.  Throw ball underhanded up about 2 feet above head.  Strike with head back straight up in air. Catch ball underhanded.  Repeat.  How many can you do before missing?

For those who missed the parent meeting, I'll attempt to summarize.

-Coach Mark maintains a nice webpage for U10 at ( http://asc-u10.blogspot.com/ ).  It has schedules, directions, archived emails, etc.  Please check schedules online before games since times can change.  We should email as well.
-Please put on your calendars the Pepperell Fall Classic for October 8-10.  Usually, U10 will play multiple games on Saturday or Sunday. More info to come later.
-U10 players are encouraged to participate in ASC Jamborees at 11 AM -noon on Saturdays at Cemetery Fields (see ASC calendar).  However if your child has a travel game that day, it might tire them out before their game.
-Friday practices will run from 5:30-7.
- Monday and Wednesday practices will run from 5:30-6:45, as daylight permits.
-Coaches are open to discuss any player issues, especially considering their ages.  Please do this after practices or via email.
-3 players from the coed Red team will be moved to the Blue boys team.
-The Red team will need a new Team Manager
-ASC has Goalie training at Cemetery Fields on Mondays from 6-7.  Coach Mark will inquire if this available for U10s.

Just a reminder that we will be having a parent meeting after practice this evening (Wednesday 9/14) at about 6:30.  I have also attached a handout with some material I have collected over the years which I think can be helpful for parents. Please take a look at it and let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks.

Team:

I would like to hold a parents meeting for about 15 minutes after practice on Wednesday.  The coaches will take the time to introduce ourselves, the plans for the season, and our expectations.  It is also a good chance for parents to ask questions.  If you will not be able to attend for any reason, please let me know and I will make sure you receive any necessary information.
