Re: HFC U10: Practice and Parents Meeting

Team:

Thanks for the turn out at the parents meeting.  Thanks also for the questions and braving the not so warm weather.  As a follow-up to the meeting please respond to the following:
  1. Night at the Revolution - Please RSVP before end of week.  If you are going please send in the order form and send me an email with the name of the player and number of tickets.  If you will not be able to participate please email me as well, as I may have to extend invitations to other players to fill out the rosters.  As I mentioned, I hope all the players get a chance to participate.
  2. April 29th games - All the teams have games on Sunday, April 29th.  Please let me know if your player will not make the game asap, as this is the last day of April break and I want to make sure we have full rosters for the games.
  3. Girl extra games - If there are girls who would like to get an extra game in by helping fill out the boys game rosters, please email me and let me know by Wednesday.
If you were not able to make the parent meeting here are some of the topics we discussed.  If you have any questions please let me know.

Parent Meeting Topics
Winter training was a good experience and the players learned a lot.
Lots of improvement from the Fall season.

Playing 6v6 - 8 game season from 4/15 to 6/10
     3 teams - 2 Boys, 1 Girls
First game Boys Blue Sunday 4/15,  Boys Red and Girls Red on Sunday 4/29

Focus on player development
primarily on individual technique (secondary tactics, fitness, psycho-social)
Game time is important to development
All Players who put in the effort will receive equal playing time
Understand that players cannot always make 3 practices a week all the time

Important that:
     - contact team coach and Coach Mark when not going to make a game
     - show up on time
games (45 min before) - leave extra time for away games
          practices (15 min before)

Boys teams will need 2+ players per games (only 7 rostered players per boys team)
Players will come from other boys team, u9 playing up, and girls if interested
Girls who are interested in extra games should contact Coach Mark
Will provide game by game roster to everyone

Night at the Revolution, Saturday, May 12
     1 boys team
     1 girls team
     8v8 games
Did this last year with u11 team and it was a great experience
excellent opportunity for the players.  Would like every player to take part.
Need to get roster in place by next Sunday, April 15
Please RSVP even if you cannot attend.
Please promote to family, friends, etc.

Goalie training - Thursday nights - addition to regular practice
Good chance for kids interested in learning the basics of playing goal

Personal Best Skills
     drills - practice at home

Always happy to talk with parents (email, phone, in person)
     - please not right after games, in general
     - after practice is a good time usually
